Falling on the 15th day of first Lunar month, Lantern Festival marks the end of Lunar New Year. And it also regarded as Chinese Valentine's Day. Eating Rice Dumplings(Tong Yuen) is an important custom of this festival.
The ball-shaped dumplings are made of glutinous rice flour with usually sweet fillings inside such as sesame paste , peanut paste, brown sugar etc. Hong Kong people used to cook the dumplings with ginger and cane sugar soup. Today let us teach you a new refreshing way to prepare the dumplings.
Bring a pot of water to boil. Add rice dumplings and cook until it floats. (a few pieces of sliced ginger can be added to cook) Turn off the heat and set aside.
To keep the original tea aroma, adding sugar is not suggested.
Happy Lantern Festival!
